Lectures
Dr. Tsui introduces you to his principles of nature-based design and construction. Using examples from the natural world, he explains architectural and design languages that are formed directly from observing nature. He reveals practical solutions for the restoration of environmentally degraded locations that will inspire your own human ingenuity and awaken you to the purposeful use of your imagination.
Lectures run between one and three hours with time for discussions.
Seminars
Dr. Tsui, by providing examples drawn from the natural world, offers an opportunity to learn, question and experiment with the methods and materials one finds in nature. Through small discussion groups, his seminars examine deeply new multi-dimensional solutions to age-old problems. Participants will explore topics ranging from disaster prevention to zero-energy-use habitats and biomemetic design.
Seminars are one from one to three days.
Workshops
Dr. Tsui creates an intimate and exciting laboratory setting that provides a more in-depth, hands-on training in the "hows" and "whys" of his nature-based design principles. Participants engage in multi-level studies that focus on a wide range of interconnected phenomenon. Participants gain a deep understanding of the intuitive links between microscopic pollen structures, underground prairie dog colonies, spider web silk designs and buildings that withstand the crushing forces of Tsunamis.
Workshops last anywhere from three days to several weeks.
